CG Books & Bloggers Swap Reveal!

Remember when I said I was joining another book swap through Chaotic Goddess Swaps? Well, today is the reveal day! Yay! And I am so excited with what I received!

First off I would like to thank Chaotic Goddess Swaps for putting together yet another amazing swap!

Second I want to thank Katie, my swap partner from Life with the D's, for some amazing books (and chocolate!).

Book 1: The Cellar by Natasha Preston is the book that Katie has read but thought it sounded really good. And I agree, after reading the back I'm very interested.

Book 2: Gone Too Far by Natalie D. Richards is the book that Katie has read and she really liked it! I am very intrigued and excited to read it.

Book 3: Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin and this is from my wishlist, and it is huge! I'm excited to read it but I had no idea how big it was! Hahahaha! (so those tied up books, Winter's Tale is the same thickness as those three books!)

The extras: Katie sent me three more books! They are ones that she has never gotten around to reading and thought I would enjoy them (Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella, Somebody Else's Daughter by Elizabeth Brundage, and Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich). She also sent me some beautiful note cards and a gorgeous owl necklace! (two things I collect!). Oh and chocolate, some which has already been eaten and some of them currently being eaten as I type! :)

I love all the books I received and am excited to read them!

Thank you so much Katie!

To Do Today.......Tomorrow.....Someday!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/62595452/owl-to-do-list-notepad-blue-by

Oh to do lists, how do I love thee, let me count the ways:

1. I need to work on my nail posts! Also, need to add all those polishes in the black container and bowl next to it to my stash list. Bleh, I hate doing that because I also add them to a spreadsheet that has their collection, year, color, etc (ocd, whatever!)  :)

2. See! Need to plan! This is an overview of the month of January for me. (I got this awesome blog planner from Mamma's Got It Together: Printable Planners) Did I do all those prompts? Nope. All the pink prompts are for Axis of Ineptitude, the green ones are The Crumpet's Nail Tarts 52 Week Challenge (can share the prompts since they are past), dark blue is the Nail Challenge Collaborative (wallpaper!), and finally you can see The Digit-al Dozen week (thankfully over!). I'm going to try and be better next month!

3. Need to organize makeup drawer and be brutally honest about products. But look and my new palette! So excited about the Urban Decay Vice Palette Limited Edition! :)

4. New mirror, and holy cow is it ever bright! Like, I can see dark spots in my vision after! But I don't have really good lighting in my room. But, I need to make a shelf for it to sit on so it is higher, more stable, and I can put stuff under it and not waste that space! :) (plus I should add that I should be using my Wii Fit more instead of having it collect dust right there next to the mirror >_<)

5. Need to clean all my makeup brushes. Bleh! I really don't like doing this, I clean brushes all day at work and hate to do it at home but I do love the end product! :) Don't you just love my brush rolls!? They are from the etsy shop: I Love Pickles Sewing Co. The one on the left is a smaller one and only fits my eye brushes. I'm so glad I paid extra for the larger size for my owl one! :) It also looks like I need another one! >_<

6. I need to get caught up on my blog reading! Eeks! 279, well at least it's not saying 400 or more like it did the other day! Slowly, ever so slowly!

7. Yes! Something to check off my list! I washed all my work clothes (yes there are pants too, just not in the photo). Guess what color I can wear to work? :) Always on the look out for cute all black shirts!

What do you all have planned for today, or the next few days as my luck will have it. :)

Patience is a Virtue

http://katereece.tumblr.com/

Bleh! Blah blah blah. Mumble mumble mumble. Whatever! >_<

Sometimes, I really am sick of waiting. As you can see, patience is not something that I have in abundance. I do have patience for some things, but somethings are a bit harder to wait for. Um, hello? Where's my knight in shining armor? :)

But I do know that I am glad to have grown up in the 1980s and 1990s. I say this because that generation (in North America for the most part) is the last generation to have had a "normal" childhood. The current generation is all about instant gratification.

Need to make a phone call? Bam! Cell phone! (Didn't have one until 2006!)

Need to get on the internet? Bam! Wifi! (no AOL, no whurrring, buzzing, and beeping of the dial up modem. heck, even having to just push an "on" button on the computer, our first one booted up off two big floppy discs!)

Getting married? Bam! Has brand new ginormous house! (must have all the best stuff now)

Want entertainment while on a road trip? Bam! iPad/Movies! (we had books, guessing games, and air band to the Golden Oldies type of music!)

Want to pee? Bam! Pause your show! (had to wait for a commercial and hope that you got back in time!)

Want to watch one show while taping another/or missed a show? Bam! DVR/Hulu/Netflix etc! (first thing I would do anytime I moved or the new fall season would roll around: check out the TV Guide, not the one on the TV but the little book, figure out times and channels and set VCR to record with timers!)

Want to play? Bam! Video game systems and computers! (we had the outdoors, kids from all over the block playing night games, books, and our own imagination!)

Seriously, I could go on and on about this but I have now written this a day late. Hahahahaha! So let me end with this:

Patience is a virtue........

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Wallpaper - A Story Part 4

Phew! They finished! In four days the couple managed to redo their walls from turtle shell wallpaper to this trendy crisp metallic damask. They loved it and they couldn't wait to redo more walls in their dream house!

I used BarryM Chai (two coats), stamped using BarryM Foil Effects Silver and MoYou Fashionista 08. Topped it off with HK Girl Topcoat in this photo and Essie Matte About You in the first photo.

I truly love this mani. I wish it was as long lasting as wallpaper! I don't know which version I like better, the glossy or the matte.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks take on the theme of wallpaper. Next month is a new challenge so I need to get my thinking cap on! :) And I'll have time (so I say, we shall see if I actually prepare further in advance!) since it's not the last day of the month that I finished this theme!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Wallpaper - A Story Part 3

Today our couple has almost gotten all the wallpaper completely off. Thankfully the wall behind it wasn't that badly damaged. A few spots that were a little bare but nothing a little paint couldn't fix up! They were so excited, another day and their finished look would be complete!

I used acetone to remove the polish completely off two of my nails as well as half of a third one. I used BarryM Coconut, only one coat to give it a more incomplete look. I used Konad White and Emily de Molly EDM03. I used BarryM Cardamon (two coats) as my base. I stamped using BarryM Cocoa and Cheeky CH33. I applied HK Girl Top Coat and then Essie Matte About You to give it a wallpaper feel.

Light or Darkness?

Do you ever have one of those days in which you just can't anymore? Can't pretend, can't think, can't read yet another one of these types of posts let alone right them?

That's me today. It seems as though all I ever do on this blog is complain about my depression and anxiety. Yes, it's my right to do so, it's my blog. It's a place to write down what I am feeling so that I can move on (in a way). But it can't be that appealing to others (again, does it matter as it's my blog?). To me it does. I hate being the "Debbie Downer". I hate bringing in this darkness that surrounds me and having all to see. This darkness is mine and I shouldn't force it onto others.

Instead I wish to be known for the light that I can bring. Yes, surprise surprise, I can bring light! :) So my hope is that this year I can focus more on the good things in life and report them to you!

Now does this whole post make a lot of sense, but my point is that I am choosing to see the light in the world and in everyone!

Though these are wonderful uplifting things, here are a few pins that I have on my secret board that I don't want everyone to see (because there can be cussing or other such things).

Now, this is not bad, but I think it's hilarious and so true! And it is how I want to change my view on life! :)

Hee-hee! Sorry for the cussing but this is too funny!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Wallpaper - A Story Part 2

Yesterday we saw what the wallpaper looked like, turtle shells, and today after much searching online our couple has decided to change the wallpaper themselves. The first step in they needed to do was to score the wallpaper so that it lightly tears the paper for easier removal. Stay tuned for tomorrow and see how they have progressed!

I used Konad White and Emily de Molly EDM03. I used BarryM Cardamon (two coats) as my base. I stamped using BarryM Cocoa and Cheeky CH33. I applied HK Girl Top Coat and then Essie Matte About You to give it a wallpaper feel.

The Nail Challange Collaborative Presents: Wallpaper - A Story

There once was a couple who bought a house, the house of their dreams. But the walls of their study looked like turtle shells! Oh how much they hated that wallpaper, who on earth would ever do something like that? In some places it was shrinking from the edges and some of the pattern had worn off.

But they vowed to redo the wallpaper and update it to something more modern, more trendy. Please follow them over the next three days as you see them strip down the old paper and put up the new!

I used BarryM Cardamon (two coats) as my base. I stamped using BarryM Cocoa and Cheeky CH33. I applied HK Girl Top Coat and then Essie Matte About You to give it a wallpaper feel.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales: The Golden Key

Well, today is the final day of fairytale week, and though I am one who was really wanted this theme I can see that it has bit me in the butt. I am so glad it is done! But you all should really check out all the links on each day because we have some new ladies with us and everyone has done such a fabulous job!

Today's fairytale is The Golden Key which is part of Grimm's Fairy Tales. "A poor boy gathering wood with a sleigh wants to warm himself by a fire and finds a small golden key beneath the snow; then he finds a small iron box in the ground. The text ends with the statement that the reader now has to wait until he has unlocked it." -source

I liked that this tale leaves the reader hanging, questioning what happens next? It's simplistic in it's form and delivers the moral that what happens next is what you desire to do. You are the writer of your own story, you choose the path in which to take.

I used Milani White on the Spot (two coats), China Glaze Fairy Dust (duh, had to use this at least once this week!), BarryM Foil Effects in both gold and silver, and MoYou Kitty 11 (keyhole) and LO01 (key). Topped with HK Girl Topcoat.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales: Who Are You?

Today we take a trip to visit the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland.

And then there's that time he gets mad and asks her "who are you" in the smoke rings.

I used BarryM Sugar Apple as my base (two coats). I thinned out some acrylic paint and made the smoke rings, then stamped using BarryM Pink Punch (AEIOU) and BarryM Blood Orange (?RU) and Nail Ways back to Basics -123ABC plate. I then used Essie Matte About You to give it a more smokier effect.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales: The Little Mermaid

Today for The Digit-al Dozen does fairytales I have for you The Little Mermaid. But not the Disney version, this is the Hans Christian Andersen version.

There is no Disney type of happy ending here. No, in the original version, the little mermaid saves the prince but he never sees her. He falls in love with the girl who found him on the beach. The little mermaid wants to become human to be with the prince and to gain a soul that will live forever (mermaids don't have souls). She is transformed and must get true love's kiss and marry the prince, if she doesn't she will die. But the prince marries the other girl (gasp!) and the little mermaid is heartbroken. The only way to save herself is to kill the prince and she can return to being a mermaid. But she can't kill him. So the little mermaid throws herself into the sea and dissolves into foam. But because of her sacrifice she will gain her own soul and live forever.

For my mermaid tail I used BarryM Kiwi (two coats), stamped using BarryM Cancun (matte) with MoYou Sailor 04. On my other nails I have BarryM Elderberry to represent the sea. I used watered down acrylic paint to create the smokey/misty foam. The glitter on her tail and the glitter in the foam (yep, that's her dissolved body) is Once Upon a Polish: Under the Sea.

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their manis!

Seriously?

So, whenever I hear that word I think of Grey's Anatomy. Why? I don't know, I speak and think fluently in TV and movie quotes, it's like a little earworm (a catchy bit of music that gets stuck in your head) like this:

or this:

and finally this:

Now, are your eyes and ears bleeding? Muwahahahahaha! Seriously?!

Seriously, don't forget to check out the other links!
